Your Inner Child is Running Your Life...

It’s so important to understand this.

We’ve all heard the term ‘inner child’ at least once…

But what does it actually mean?

Is it legit? Or is it just more noise and spiritual jargon?

Let’s first understand what is even meant by this term ‘inner child’.

Your inner child is the younger version of you that never felt safe enough to heal, and so it still lives within you now.

Wounded, abandoned, afraid, cowering, performing for others, etc…

And whether you believe it or not, it runs your life.

It flares up in moments where you’re trying to impress and appeal to someone you’re attracted to…

Or when you’re afraid to say no to something you don’t want…

Or when someone you love is threatening to leave you

That’s when it comes out.

It’s the version of you that would do ANYTHING to feel safe, seen, chosen, and loved.

And here’s the thing:

We’re grown up now, but that hurt little child is still within us.

And our job now is to be the parent to that child. To provide that child with the love that it was robbed of in years earlier.

To develop the discipline, confidence, and courage to lean into the negativity and, for once, choose that child.

Because the love that that child is craving is YOUR love.

It wants YOUR approval, YOUR attention. But you keep abandoning it by going on these missions to try to get others to give it to you instead.

Healing the inner child means choosing yourself.

Being willing to recognize that shadow of pain and fear within you, and to console it.

You should have a parent-child relationship with your very own self.

Learn to trust you, to confide in you, to feel safe with you, to love you, to prioritize you, to be there for you, to CHOOSE you.

And I promise you, everything will change.
