The More You Grow, The More You’ll Have to Say Goodbye...

This is a hard pill to swallow for a lot of people:

The more you grow, the more you’re going to have to learn how to say goodbye.

When you start working on yourself, and working towards becoming a different person, very quickly your energy begins to shift.

And it turns out that the energy you embody is the very glue that holds your life in the particular position it’s in in every moment.

Your energy is what attracts the people you surround yourself with, the job you have, the hobbies and activities you engage in, and all of it.

So when that energy begins to shift (which is a natural result of working on yourself) your life follows suit.

And what does this look like?

A lot of people drifting away.

Hobbies no longer captivating your attention.

Dreams, jobs, lifestyle choices, no longer being at the forefront of your interest.

And here’s the dangerous part:

This deadening feeling that we can get towards our hobbies, relationships, jobs, etc. can be horrifying.

And it can make us feel inclined to return to who we used to be in order to keep it around.

In order to keep the relationship alive.

In order to keep the job you’re comfortable with.

In order to… stay in the familiar.

But what we do when we do this is sever the natural flow of our growth.

We need to be willing to consistently and courageously let go of whatever is fading from us, trusting that the universe is naturally removing it from our lives to keep us aligned with our most authentic path.

That’s a mouthful; read it a couple times if you have to.

If you don’t flow with the moment, and if you don’t trust your own process of evolution, you will get caught worshipping the past.

But the past isn’t where life is. The past isn’t where your happiness is.

Right now is where it all is. Right now is your starting point.

Come to terms with and embrace the now, and the universe will take care of the rest.

Much love, Devon G.
